I feel worse now than I did when I came out of hospital. My tummy hurts all the time, all the way up to my chest,I feel like there's rocks in there. My incisions hurt, they are glued, no stitches. I have a weird big blister come up on my tummy for no reason. The injections I have to give myself hurt like hell.

I'm managing Water ok and some Protein, and a bit of Soup, I'm on full liquids.

When does it get better?? :-(

Yep day 3-7 were the roughest for me. Give it a full week and you should be feeling better. Is the blister from tape? Are you giving yourself injections as in blood thinners? If so make sure your alternating sites. Hang in there it sucks but you won't remember it a month from now :)

Thankyou for replying... Yes blood thinning injections - they are evil!

I just expected to be feeling better by now, not worse. But it's reassuring to know it's not just me.

Thanks. :-)

I'm sorry you are so uncomfortable. While you are suffering now, try to remember that it is temporary. When you are feeling bad, visualize your goals. That really helped me. Another thing that helped was taking walks. Even though it was difficult at first, being outdoors in the fresh air and seeing something besides my bedroom really picked me up.

Good luck with your recovery.

The recovery will quickly become just a blip on the radar of your life. You're making it through the hardest part...but you are DONE...you are SLEEVED! You've accomplished so much already. Every day will get better and better.

Best of luck on your sleeve and hopes for a quick recovery!

Im on day five and by far my hardest day as far as incision pain. It feels like a pulled muscle. I hope you start feeling better soon.

I felt so good in the hospital and then I came home and felt so much worse too! I could believe the amount of pain I was having and how uncomfortable I felt. I was told.its expected. Days 3 through 5 post op were my worst. Today is day 9 post op for me and I am starting to feel much better and so much more like myself. It still hurts to bend and I get tired easily but it's definitely starting to get better. Good luck on your journey!

You have to remember in the hospital you are on strong pain meds and that's one of the reasons we felt so good. I hurt when I got home also. I do think days 4 and 5 were pretty hard. It will get better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
