Hi there, I'm new on here, had my Sleeve Op 23rd Feb 2015 in the UK so 1 week post Op, I haven't lost any weight as yet, not 1lb, is thus normal?? ????????

I must also say reading all your messages, it seems the UK surgery/pre Op/food intake is so very different from in the US.

Hi, I'm yet to even have my initial consultation, but wanted to say hi as I'm in uk too!

Hope your surgery went ok and you're recovering? I'm sure the weight will start to drop off soon. What surgeon/Hosp did you use?? And would you mind sharing what the pre/post op diet is you're following?

Hi I had my surgery in Sheffield, Thornbury Hospital. Pre op diet was 10 days milk and low fat yoghurt, was extremely hard but I didn't cheat!! Post Op fluids only for 2 days, then puréed diet for next 4 weeks, which I'm on now, I'm struggling to be honest with the purée as I'm quite a fussy eater. Whereabouts are you in the UK?

I'm near Southampton, plan on using michael van den bossche at the spire hospital. I'm hoping for surgery in May, need to book my consultation etc. I'm still a bit scared of committing to it..,I know it's right and I need to get it done, but it's scary! At the same time a bit exciting too!

How are you getting on with drinking Water? That's one of my biggest concerns as I drink a lot!!

Yes it happens. Sometimes it's Water weight from the IV fluids and sometimes it's your body trying to adjust to the changes. Give it time. Continue to follow your doctor's instructions. The weight will come off.

Well I never drank enough Water before so I guess it hasn't been a problem, I do need to drink more but I am told not to have a drink 30 mins a meal until 30 mins after a meal and when you have to have 5 small meals it is difficult fitting all the water in!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
