Ah pillow, must not forget that and a fleece blanket! I haven't picked up gas-x yet but I heard that to be helpful. I'm hoping I survive the first day. As of midnight no liquids no nothing and it sounds like I won't be able to drink anything until after my swallow test the following morning

I had late c sections and they weren't too bad. I slept in and kept myself occupied until it was time to go in. I think my struggle will be after since I'll be up by 10 or so and then have all day yet. Probably an early bed time to keep my mind off of it! My husband likes watching my 600 lb life or whatever its called. He said there's a new episode on tomorrow so hopefully settle in for the night while that's on.

Good luck to everyone else on here with tomorrow as the big day. I am getting nervous and excited for tomorrow. I have to be there at 5:30am and surgery is at 7:30am so up at 3am to to get ready and travel there. Like the other ones I see, I won't be able to eat or drink anything until the following day when they do the swallow test. I am packing my bag tonight. It has been nice to hear what you guys are packing so I have an idea on what to put in it.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
