Ok. I was sleeved on 12/30/2014. I was down 46 pounds from me pre op weight, however this week I gained 2 pounds. Is this normal for a stall? It is so disappointing. Thanks.

A gain of a pound or 2 have always been part of how I stall. Could be the beginning of a stall, or could just be Water retention etc...It's frustrating either way!

Did you break through your stall yet?

I was stalled for about 3 weeks but weight is suddenly dropping off again even though I haven't really changed anything. Hang in there, it will start coming off again soon!

Mike4132, yes I did! Thank you. Two weeks later I dropped 5 lbs. I still have a ways to go. Getting enough Protein is still an issue for me though

Stalls are going to be a part of your new life - don't let them mess with your mind.

The important thing is to not let them get you off program - just keep doing what you've been doing and your body will catch up.

Stalls suck...but get used to it!!! It's REALLY....REALLY...REALLY FRUSTRATING....but the are going to happen!!! And I gave definitely gotten on the scale and gained 2-3 pounds!!!

Don't let it bother you. You will get past it and the scale will move again. I'm on quite a roller coaster right now where I only lose once a month. Crazy!! I'll drop 10 lbs at beginning of month...and then the stall belts get fastened...and I go for a 3 week stall journey!

Stalls happen.

I was stalled at 262.

Thought I would never lose another pound.

Stalled at 202.

It will happen.

I've noticed, for myself, my body literally stops losing weight for two to three weeks and then I lose a lot in a week... Start and stop.... so, I stopped weighing myself as much. I only do it once a month. I've relied more on clothing sizes to mark progress. "Can I get in this shirt yet? Nope... not yet"... few weeks later "Hot damn, I am in that shirt! Time to weigh myself." I have to mentally keep my mind out of that crazy space where I'm watching numbers.

I find it almost impossible to not weigh in every day, usually first thing in the morning and then again after dinner. It's an obsession. I know I should put the scale away someplace inaccessible, I know it's a mental game and I know I'm losing inches, but I still cant get over the impulse to constantly weigh in.

I'm in the midst of a stall, yet the pant size is changing. I've come to accept that stalls happen and are perhaps my body catching up to / recovering from getting rid of my past caloric indulgences.

Right now, part of it may be my Water, since I've been working long hours that aren't easy to get the Water in. So that's my focus for now.

I am totally with Shace on this one. I am very compliant with my bariatric program, did it to a "T" but simply, for me, don't agree with daily weigh-ins. I am one month post-op and down 42# but I only weigh once a week. I know that with getting my Water and Protein, and avoiding carbs, I will lose. Period. But as a (now) 378 pound guy, a 1% up or down (3-4 pound) is a meaningless number. The stalls are not really stalls, it is your body working out all this new equipment. Stalls are our self-imposed mind games.

I must have started early with the scale obsession. I weigh myself daily...if not several times a day. It is like a fascination with my four week old pouch. Everything from how much Water I drink to whether I voided or had a bowel movement seems to affect my weight. So far I haven't thrown up or burped up anything and have not had the dumps people talk about. Sort of good to hear that I am not the only guy with this behavior.

I'll put a third agree with Shace on this one. I completely don't lose anything for a good three weeks and then I have an epic week! I might weigh myself more often, but just don't take it seriously. My real measure is whether my clothes fit me better, and the monthly weigh in.

Stalls are when your body catches up and adjusts to the new way you're eating ( or lack thereof) along with physical activity...one needs to keep things changing in order to continue loosing.

I never experienced a true stall, because I was (and still am) constantly improving and setting higher demands on my exercise/running....plus my eating was always evolving discovering healthier more nutritious foods. So I never fell into a routine, or rut, that lasted very long....changed weekly.

I'm finished loosing weight....I get on the scale every day, sometimes twice a day...I gain and loose the same 5 lbs, which could be a 10lb swing positive and negative, for years now...perfectly normal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
