amyecpa 33 Posted March 1, 2015 I am 4.5 weeks post op and since surgery I just can't sleep without taking something. I'm dealing with reflux so that doesn't help, but if I don't take something I wake up every 30 minutes. I believe I'm a little dehydrated ????. Has anyone else experienced this? Kavika88 1 Posted March 1, 2015 I'm going through the can't sleep thing for the past week or two. Wake up at 3 - 4 am. Don't know if it's related to the surgery or maybe because I started hitting the gym. But I work out in the evening. No reflux , going to bring it up at my next visit.,
Jovie62 135 Posted March 1, 2015 Same here. I've been up for a couple of hours now and I'm tried, but can't seem to sleep. 11 days post op. Maybe it's a side affect from all the medications that are finally leaving our bodies.

Wynnie 186 Posted March 1, 2015 I believe this is very common, and it happened to me as well. By month 2-3 your normal sleep pattern will return. I'm not sure why this happens, but it will ebb away just like your weight

KittyKatt 3 Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) My dr/dietitian told me that I would experience that as well just for the first couple of months and that the best thing to help me post op to sleep is buying a wedge pillow. She said to stay away from anything acidic and to just try to sleep a little elevated and not to eat too late and that my acid reflux may be worse because of my pouch decreasing in size. oh and also that I may experience a little bit if the tired feeling due to the anesthesia just for the first few weeks. Maybe that and hormonal changes? Edited March 2, 2015 by KittyKatt
