I am, which is why I am having so much trouble making a decision. I don't want gastric bypass.
Madmax68 227 Posted March 1, 2015 I had a call from my doc asking me if I wanted to change my mind and switch to an RNY because she discovered a hiatus hernia after a barium swallow test. Although I've never really had any GERD problems to date, I had to give it some serious consideration. Ultimately I decided the sleeve was still the best option for me (I have anemia and arthritis) and am hoping I am one of the lucky ones that doesn't encounter this problem. Shell88 157 Posted March 1, 2015 They found an ulcer, I have a history of reflux, but they still planned on the surgery for me. My pre op liquid diet has actually been kick starting my reflux again - and he hasn't prescribed me any medicine to combat it until post surgery.... I wonder if I can take a regular dual action acid reducer like prilosec

For now I am sure you can take tums or something but call and ask to be sure. They found an ulcer, I have a history of reflux, but they still planned on the surgery for me. mclorrie 219 Posted March 4, 2015 My surgeon told me to start taking 'over the counter' - Omeprazole every day post op so I get it in my system. I've experienced reflux in the past but it wasn't an every day occurrence. When I mentioned this to her, she said that it will be more beneficial for me post op.
