nikki1980 26 Posted February 28, 2015 So had my gastric sleeve at a fantastic private hospital in London where the nurses would check on me every half hour and administer medication through IV. Today at discharge i was given a sack full of medication and sent on my merry way. Taking medication which is dissolvable but i am in a catch 22 situation i am in pain so i got to drink medicine but drinking the medicine gives me pain. Its not like other surgeries where you pop a pill and numb the pain for a while this is so hard! Sorry to be a debbie downer but i am struggling
ProjectMe 909 Posted February 28, 2015 I took pain pills on the 2nd day in the hospital and they were sent home, Drs didn't prescribe liquid. So if liquid is causing you discomfort, ask your surgeon for pills.
Elizabeth21 176 Posted February 28, 2015 Contact your doctor immediately! You are the customer. If you are in pain that ask the doctor for alternatives. Good luck!

kmc1986 3 Posted March 5, 2015 I'm day 3 post op and have the same issue with medications causing pain. They say it's the swelling inside causing us such discomfort. It's getting better daily.
lclemur 161 Posted March 11, 2015 I couldn't drink the liquid pain relievers, it burned terribly when it hit my stomach. They kept me in the hospital an extra day until I no longer had a serious problem with pain. I wish there is something I could suggest other than speak with your surgeon ASAP!
