endzone 55 Posted February 28, 2015 I was stuck last night for six....yes six hours.....I could not get the food to pass or come up....(I really tried) just kept on sliming, .....my question is do you have a sure fire way of getting unstuck??? Six hours was too much for me and I am afraid to eat now......
KateP 359 Posted February 28, 2015 I have no sure way of getting unstuck as I have never had a probiem anything like as bad as that! But I strongly recommend having liquids only for at least 24 hours as you have probably inflamed the tissue at the base of the oesophagus. And whatever it was you ate, don't eat it again! Julie norton 2,850 Posted February 28, 2015 Some people try hot tea... Lying on left side .. I have read others try to "unstick" by walking with their hands above their head. Surely, liquids or maybe yogurt for at least 10 hours helped me. But the goal is to learn, I think, and try to not get stuck again... It took me years to get into a groove with my band....best of luck and keep posting????
LadyMaggie 145 Posted February 28, 2015 My NUT says hot items (tea, Soup, etc.) and also pineapple juice
Debbie3sons 1,936 Posted March 1, 2015 I have to walk OR drink something & it all comes out but again that's just me.
B-52 7,113 Posted March 1, 2015 If you're truly stuck, then anything you add in addition has no where to go....hence the sliming, you can't even swallow your own spit. So I simply take a few sips of Water, and make sure I am in the bathroom.... Can't begin to tell you how many times I've had to leave the table while in restaurants, let alone at home. But it's all part of the learning curve, breaking those old habits that made me fat and unhealthy....of course I could have gotten Fluid taken out of my band, then I would have no fear of ever getting stuck.....or having the band do anything and not loosing weight either! JustWatchMe 7,117 Posted March 1, 2015 Like B52 said, drinking won't work for me. Spit it up, stop eating, give the body a rest for several hours and stick to liquids until the next day at least.
DoOverWLS 4 Posted March 1, 2015 Papaya enzyme!!!! It helps with digestion by breaking down the food. You can get it at health food stores, for sure. I never needed to use it, but I heard it works wonders. Good luck!
endzone 55 Posted March 1, 2015 (edited) Thanks everyone, nothing works for me lol, I agree with B 52 I can not even drink when stuck.....I will not be having Fluid taken out either I will eat smaller bites and eat slower ....learning curve! dhoman 2 Posted March 1, 2015 I have a hard time figuring out the stuck thing. I can eat the same thing over and over again then all of a sudden I get stuck. The other night I had grilled shrimp and mixed veggies and I got stuck but I've had this many times before. I never know.
MarieMarie 346 Posted March 2, 2015 I go to bathroom and gently try to spit out what I can

Julie norton 2,850 Posted March 3, 2015 Dh It is a running thread how fickle our band can be.... For me....Just when I think I have a good formula. It surprises me. The exact same food, Water, etc After all these years... Protein drinks seem the least likely to irritate my band. And fish. Go figure Good luck....keep us posted???? gail10 17 Posted March 3, 2015 A sip of fizzy drink always used to work for me, it would bring anything straight back up. One week after my first fill (2nd time round) and thankfully I've had nothing stick so not had to try the old trick. Definitely stick to liquids for 24 hours, this is something I learned the hard way last time round.
