3 days out - protein?

Recommended Posts

I got sleeved on Wednesday and am on Clear liquids until tomorrow. Yesterday, all I could manage to get down was maybe 32 oz of Water, a few bites of Jello, and one sip of Isopure. I am having an easier time with the water this morning (probably due to the fact that I was finally able to pass a lot of gas) but the thought of drinking more isopure or similar is horrible to me. I know it will be easier when I can have full liquids tomorrow. How important is Protein this early in the game? Do I need to choke down the isopure or can I wait until tomorrow to start pushing the protein when I have more options, like my delicious Premier Protein shakes?

In the hospital, I had some hot tea with beneprotein in it. it was basically meat flavored tea and i don't know how i managed to drink it. the memory of it is making me turn green.

Thoughts?

I was told at first to concentrate on getting my fluids in and that is difficult the first week or two. Protein is secondary so if you have to wait until tomorrow to try your Protein then wait until tomorrow. It would be worse if you threw up.

Good luck!

I swear by GENEPRO unflavored. In only 1 TBS you get 30 g of Protein in it. I can mix it in juice, G2, or any sort of flavored Water (Crystal Light, etc.). I got it on Amazon I think for $38. I'm going to try it tonight in my first full liquid Soup. Since I already had 1 20 oz drink with it in there, if I can tolerate it in the Soup I'll probably only eat 1/2, then I will be able to get 45 g of Protein in, 1 week post-op. Hope this helps!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
