Yoda,

I had a goal for June and guess what? I had that one pesky pound that kept haunting me for months - it's gone and I'm down 4 below. My June goal is to maintain goal for this month.

Hope you're having a great week!

June goals...

UMMMmm....

1 - Survive In-Laws visit in mid-June :(

2 - Get my fill without crying when they stick me with the needle!

3 - Survive my first TAT on thursday (no crying will be a bonus) :nervous

4 - Start the exercise part of my band life :frusty:

5 - Support Mrs. Yoda in her June goals

6 - Stay healthy and happy as the temp rises at work (adv. 130F on nice summer days) :fear:

That's not too lofty for a newbie, is it?

Did I mention the In-Laws coming???? :)

1. Stick to the Post-op diet

2. Maintain current weight (losing would be a bonus)

3. Walk a min. 30 min every day.

I think I'll stop here and give myself a chance.:)

Mr. Y- What's a TAT?

Tattoo!!!!!

I'm getting the one I have around my ankle "fixed" this afternoon (I had emergency surgery 4 yrs ago and they had to "cut" through my tattoo). While there, I am getting another one and Mr Yoda is getting his first!!! His mother is going to kill me (yet another thing I'm a bad influence on him for!!!). But of course, as you all know, Mr Y. has a mind of his own and I did NOT talk him into this (I would never talk anyone into something as permanent as a tattoo...it is an individual decision)...but all the same; I can't wait to see his mom's face!!!! *evil laughter*

Hi: You have probably lost your Cookies (lol). When I do a full scan for viruses Norton Security posted a message that I was being tracked and the threat was low. I deleted the cookies and lost my ticker. Had to go back and reinstall it. Doddie

1. Get a fill...feel some restriction

2. Finish Finals (why do i subject myself to summer classes)

3. Lose 2 pounds before fill

It's funny you say get a tat...i was thinking about getting one myself...One that had a meaning, something that represents my weight loss journey, as well as my passion for medicine and health...probably a rod of asklepios. (the stick with the snake around it)...I'm not sure...i will probably wait till i lose some weight first.

Thanks Yoda,

I do feel great - kinda weirded out being at goal though.... now what? is my question and do I have the tools to stay the course? How will I handle difficult situations? I know I know.... I'm just sayin'.

PS. We do need to have a gab session soon. Let me know.

Woo! Finally after weeks and weeks at the same, I was down a pound(ish) today! Let's hope this is the beginning of some steady ticker movement!

And I still am running. I'm taking the couch potato to 5k a little slower than they suggest, but it's ok. I'm now at running for a whopping 90 seconds, then walking for 2 minutes!

So far I am doing ok on the post -op diet. At least I think I am. I start soft food on wednesday and I am looking forward to a nice scrambled egg! I have had a few days that I really wished I could have something that required chewing lol but I managed to get through them in tack! It is actually amazing how quickly the time is going by.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
