Hi Everyone!

It is June the forth and I was thinking about goals for the month. Last month I found it helpful to read the posts of others and plan my own goals and post them. I did acheive my goal as did most of us I think!

Big high five to all of us!

So for starts as I am just a few days on this side of life I would like to really focus on getting the most out of the month as in working through the different stages of food and learning about my feelings towards this phase. lol right now I am just so happy to be able to have chicken broth !! and popsicles!!

I seldom have huge hunger so far but it is early yet.

So I guess what my goal is is to make it through this month of liquids. full liquids, pureed, and soft foods without too much trouble

Good luck to everyone this month!!

Thank you LeslieLee. Like yourself I need to get through this month while I have dreams of a succulent steak :welldoneclap:. All kidding aside, so far so good for me as well. I'm enjoying my broth and today I've found out from Maral at TLBC that I can add a little bit of parmesan cheese to the broth. Heavenly! Best of luck to you as well.

Okay, June goals it is. I managed to make my May goal by the excess skin of my teeth. I had a nice stall in the last 2 weeks of May.

My June goals are as follows:

- Get below 270lbs. I have set a mini-goal for myself to get to 100lbs lost by the end of July so that is half way to that.

- Conitnue to make it to the gym at least 3 times per week, but strive for 4 or 5.

- Conitnue to eat healthy, try to make better choices, and limit my treats to once a week.

Other than that, I just want to try to take care of myself and not get too stressed out. The coming months are the most stressful in my job so getting through them will be a challenge.

June goals...

I'm going to visit Starbucks only on pay days as I can't even begin to imagin how many calories are in a Venti Dulce de Latche

(next visit June 15).

I'm going to start working out more. I've been doing 30-45 mins of power walking a day but now it's time for me to change things up. I've never been one for the gym so I've bought some light free style wights and Hip Hop abs. I'm aiming to follow along with the DVD at least 3 times a week and continue with my walking.

Hello MonicaZ:

I know everyone is going to hate me, but I have not had any issues (so far) post-op. The first day I was really drowsy. The second day I was still a bit drowsy but moved around when I was awake. The third day I was great and this is day 4 and I'm still waiting for those awful gas pains in the shoulder everyone talks about. I do have some occasional pain in my stomach which I think is gas but it cames and goes and is quite bearable. I also did not take any painkillers since the surgery. I removed my big bandages today and everything looks great. The other ones come off in approx 6 days. I don't want to jinx it but so far so good.

My goal for June is to stay away from chocolate. Jill (the nutritionist from TLBC) said to start thinking like I am allergic to it. Worked for the 1st week after the bash, but I have succumed to the craving today. I'm still losing though, and that's better than before the motivational bash!

I would like to see a 165 on the scale.

I'd also like to continue to run 3 times a week.

My June goal is to get the port flipped back and anchored so I can get my second fill. I had no post op problems, but the fills have not been so successful. After that, I want to loose 1 lb a week. Doddie

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
