Hi I am a new member and this is my first thread I am doing. I have never done anything like this so I hope it is right. June 6 I start the liquid diet:D and June 20 I have the lap banding surgery:clap2: I can't wait I am so excited to get going on my new me!!! I am even excited about the liquid diet. This past weekend I spent lots of time reading and rereading the information that I received from the dietatin. Trying to plan ahead for how to get all the shakes in. I am concerned about the full feel when I am done with the liquid portion of the process. The only thing that totally freaks me out is throwing up!!!!:omg: I so don't want that to happen because I have heard and read that it is pretty violent. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I had my band done 3/29/07. I am down 25lbs now. I had a good experience with my band surgery. I had small amount of pain(extra strength tylenol) did not fill pain script. I had and still have no vomiting. I stop when I fill full. Not 1 more bite as I too can not stand the thought of vomiting. I figure if I listen to my body it will warn me ahead of time. Now, I do understand that some people are nauseated by the medication from surgery. That is why we do not eat prior to surgery. Can't throw up what is not in there. Being careful and really listening to your body is my advise.

Hope this helped....good luck with your adventure.

Throwing up is if you are eating too quickly and not chewing your food well enough. Be sure you chew, even when you get to your mushies to prepare yourself and chew until you get tired of chewing, then swallow. If you are a 10 minute eater like I was, you better begin to learn how to take your time and learn that also. You want to take at least 30 minutes to eat your meals.

Josephine

Good Luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
