highdesertblue 70 Posted February 26, 2015 Ugh!!! I have faithfully followed the pre op diet, got rid of all the extra food in my house, and now, a few days before surgery, I got a call saying they have to postpone. The doc will be out of town right after my original surgery date. The lady who called said it was her mistake. She said I only have to go back on the diet three days prior to the surgery since I've lost weight. So now what? I'm disappointed, frustrated, confused about what to buy or eat. The Protein Powder and Vitamins are SO expensive, it going to be hard to fit more food, or more Protein stuff into my tight budget. My poor husband has been living on TV dinners. I know its just a few more weeks. sigh.

highdesertblue 70 Posted February 27, 2015 My husband decided to cheer me up and take me to lunch, since I can eat regular food for a while. I was only able to eat about a third of my lunch. Saved the rest for later. I decided to partially stay on the Protein Drink diet, and have one meal a day until it is closer to surgery. I don't want to go through "withdrawals" from sugar and processed foods again! I'm sure everything will work out for the best, and really, there isn't much I can do to change the surgery date! k9nana 50 Posted February 27, 2015 That IS disappointing, I know that I would be disappointed because I've been stessing about my upcoming surgery on the 3rd. I really don't need more time to stress about it. I wasn't planning on having any food funerals but now I'm thinking that I might need one. I just don't want to gain any weight between now and next Tuesday. Today I shopped for my post surgery liquids, Soups, puddings and Jello.< /p> I got the sugar free Popsicles too. It's beginning to feel real and scary. Good luck on your surgery, hopefully we'll have an easy time of it.
Jenn1376 10 Posted March 8, 2015 I'm sorry to hear about the delay. I know nerves are natural, but I really didn't think to much on it on the day of my procedure. I was in pain after, but not excruciating pain like I expected to be in. The most annoying part was having the catheter and drain tube. The key is to WALK, the more you WALK the better you feel. Good Luck on your new journey!
