kcdavidson42 10 Posted February 26, 2015 I had surgery on 2/23 and have been feeling spectacular thus far. However this morning I woke up with a burning sensation on my lower abdomen incision. Is this normal? Anything I can to do help subside the pain? I've taken my pain meds but it's not helping with this pain.
chickabo 6 Posted February 26, 2015 My surgery was 2/16 and I have 6 incisions one of which is a little bigger the the rest and that one hurts still. I have been putting Vitamin e on it 3x a day. I put something on top of the frig and about died yesterday it hurt so bad. Doctor told me it is normal for it to be sore. That is the incision they took my stomach out of and a cyst that was on my stomach at the same time(about the size of a golf ball) he said because it went through my muscle. I didn't have stitches I had surgical glue. Hope that help at all. Sorry for your pain. But remember it will be worth it in the end. ????

jenbaby75 283 Posted February 27, 2015 Yes, some pain at the larger incision is normal, as they stitch itnto the muscle. I know, because I called 5 days post op, when I couldn't walk upright. The incisions can be sore for 2 weeks, during the healing process. Take some Children's Tylenol, or the pain meds the doc gave you.
muzikgal21 12 Posted February 27, 2015 Mine started getting REALLY bad after 4 weeks. In fact, so bad I couldn't walk. And, it was just "normal" incision pain. The doctor will probably tell you that it's normal to feel pain in the major incision because of the movement and stitching of the muscle during surgery. This pain was the worst pain I've ever experienced! Even worse than just after surgery.
kcdavidson42 10 Posted February 27, 2015 I spoke with the doctor and they said it was completely normal. They suggested rotating ice and heat on it. I've done that and it hasn't really helped that much.
