I'm not sure if I qualify as a success story yet but I do believe I experienced a life changing event. It took me years to pull the trigger on surgery. I've gained weighed steadily over the last 10 years despite doing what doctors had advised me to do. A myriad of reasons and overall giving up led me to where I was. Oct 7th I weighed in at 248lbs. As a 5'2 woman I was a size 20 comfortably. I realize now how in denial I was over where I had got too. Do you have that one picture that made you cry? I do. I never took any pics until my husband and I celebrated 10 yrs of marriage in Puerto Rico. This before picture was what made me get surgery a month later. The now pic is from today after playing in the snow with my girls. I'm not even at goal and unbelievably happy. Just thought I'd post the pics bc they were my motivation from others. post-227578-14249669824517_thumb.jpg

Thank you! Good luck tomorrow! I'll tell you what, it hasn't been easy and I think I've spent more time questioning and regretting my decision than I thought I'd would. But everyone is right...it will keep getting better ❤️

Congratulations on your fabulous progress! I can so relate to your experience. Even though I still have about 65lbs to go and have lost 80, I look so much different and I actually enjoy taking pics now.

I went on a cruise to Puerto Rico, one month before my surgery. Those pics made me cry. I just came off a cruise to Hawaii and I look great.

The difference just a couple of months makes!

@@dc0520 - you look awesome! I had RNY on Monday and am very new to this, but would definitely call your progress major success. I'm in need of a few online supporters who have recently been through this but are ahead of me - any interest in being a go-to/mentor?

I just had the gastric bypass too, on Feb 17, 2015 and was losing weight steadily. All of a sudden it seems my weight is going up a couple pounds and I'm freaking out. Is this normal? All I'm eating is the Protein shakes and one fat free slip in slide snack a day. Is it possible to be gaining? I have lost 29 lbs so far.

Trust me. We all go through those moments of fear that it'll be just one more tool we fail to use correctly...but it's not. The stall is normal and gain as well - it's not fat. Your weight loss will continue. Keep your fluids up most importantly! A lot of people stress about Protein which is important but my doctor stressed fluids in the beginning. You'll get over this and it will be a distant memory ❤️

You look fantastic! My surgery was 11/12/14 and I too was about 245 at my highest. I am now 179 and feeling great despite some complications. I would do it again and look forward to the future! Congratulations on your success!

Some fat free products have a lot of sugar to make up in taste. I'd be more concerned about sugar free vs fat free. It's sugar that leads to insulin resistance, which leads to weight gain. Aren't you able to eat real food yet? Why still on Protein Shakes?

Here's my side by side. 5 months out and down 112lbs, wearing the same shirt but different pants (the old ones fall down). Keep up the great work every one!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
