Bloated feeling won't go away! :,(

Recommended Posts

I am 10 days post op and I am still very bloated. This feeling won't go away. It is making it very difficult for me to get much liquid intake whether it be Protein or just clear liquid. I have mostly just been sipping Water. I am a diabetic and my blood glucose has been running very low because I can't get any carb intake which would normally come from the Protein Shakes. I feel full all the time. I am miserable. Anyone have any advice?

I remember feeling that same way. I was so bloated and painfully full of gas. It does pass, promise....

You could put a warm heating pad on your belly (with a towel between you and the pad) That sometimes helped relieve mine.

But yes, it will eventually pass. Hang in there.

A warm heating pad and gas x helped me through this period. I was also diabetic and that first 2 weeks was only allowed clear sugar free liquids, broth and Popsicles. Also, I could Water down apple juice which did give me some carbs.

The reality is I made it through but the most important thing is to stay hydrated and keep walking. It will make that bloated feeling go away.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
