trulyamazingtoo 127 Posted February 26, 2015 I am starting full liquid today amd was hoping for some suggestions to make my Protein Shake taste better. If I added a banana and mixed it in my ninja would it still be considered full liquid? I was sleeved on 2/19 down 14 pounds. I have only been able to get down 1 1/2 oz of Fluid every 2-3 hrs. I definitely cant do the shake but I am feeling weak.
James Marusek 5,244 Posted February 26, 2015 I had RNY surgery so the rules may be a little different than those for a sleeve. According to my handbook. Full liquids are foods that have a semi-solid or pudding-like consistency. So yes, blending in a banana into a Protein shake would be considered full liquid. Djmohr 6,965 Posted February 26, 2015 That Protein is very important for healing. Even if you can get an once or two down it is very important along with Water. The banana might make it very heavy. I had a similiar experience and found that the milk in my Protein Shakes was causing a very heavy feeling. After speaking with my surgeons office they suggested I move to lactose free milk and change Proteins. I moved to Premier Protein and was told to milk it down. Half and half for the first couple weeks. chocolate is the best flavor for me and this worked like a charm. To this day, that is about the only Protein Shake I like. You can get them at costco or SAMs in large cases or I have even seen them at Walgreens in smaller quantities.
joatsaint 2,814 Posted February 26, 2015 I never blended in a banana, but to make my Premier Protein chocolate shakes taste better, I added a scoop of chocolate Protein Powder. I had an old bag of chocolate Meal Replacement powder laying around and just tossed in a scoop one day to see if it improved the taste/consistency of the pre-made shakes. I liked the way it made my shake much thicker and boosted the chocolate flavor. It added 70 calories and 10 grams of Protein to my shake.
trulyamazingtoo 127 Posted February 26, 2015 Ok I wont try the banana for now. I do have some Premier shakes. They are very thick and sweet but are the best tasting ones I had.
beachgurl84 456 Posted February 26, 2015 On a somewhat related but mostly random side note, my NUT told me there is absolutely no reason to ever eat a banana again. She said the high sugar & carb content negated all the good stuff enough that it wasn't worth it. I never really cared for bananas in the first place so it's no biggie to my but now I will avoid them. Looked up the nutrition info, and it definitely doesn't rank on my list of foods worth eating. Back to the topic at hand....i would definitely suggest trying different Protein drinks. I can't stand the thicker drinks and definitely none with lactose, so I drink Isopure Zero carb with 40 g Protein. They are clear and 20 oz to a bottle.
