Just seeking some advice...I had surgery on 2/23 and everything has been going well. I've been very mobile and have barely had to use my pain meds. However, when I sleep its a different story. I tend to lay on my side and the opposite side kills me when I get up. I have tried to sleep on my back but can't seem to get comfortable and even when I do, I still manage to get up in pain. Any ideas of what's causing this and how I can help remedy the issue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You've had major abdominal surgery. It's expected that there will be some pain. A major concern would be a sudden increase in pain or any of the other concerning symptoms your surgeon advised you of. And as always contact your surgeon for guidance.

My recommendation and what really helped me was sleeping in a recliner or recliner type position until your body has had more time to heal. I pretty much slept in the recliner for the first week and a half to two weeks, then off/on as needed.

You just had abdomen surgery and it's going to hurt. Maybe you should try just taking one pain pill at night to help you get comfortable and sleep. Your body needs to heal. I'm a side sleeper to but it hurt to roll back over. I had to get used to sleeping on my back for a few nights. Now it's better and I can Kay on my side for awhile. I do take the pain meds when I need too. I was sleeved on 2/18. Good luck!

@ kcdavidson42 I had the exact same experience. Little to no pain yet unable to get comfortable in bed. The good news is that is normal and very common for side or stomach sleepers. The bad news is there is not much you can do about it. I used a recliner in the hospital and a day or 2 after I got home after being in a chair all night went to the Salvation Army and got the most comfortable recliner there for $50! I was happy. I slept in that thing for 2-3 weeks and then went back to bed without a problem.

I had massive cramping in my right obliques. I woke from surgery with a killer back ache so I assume the inflation caused a pinched nerve or the nerve was damaged during surgery. It took 6 weeks for the cramps to finally subside. I couldn't lay on my right side and was immobilized when they occurred. My doc tried to tell me it might be my gallbladder, but logically that didn't make sense since the liquid diet would've given it a long rest. And it felt muscular.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
