alwayssmiling 12 Posted February 25, 2015 Is the needle for the refills thin?
Dakota Girl 38 Posted February 26, 2015 your process may differ but my doc numbs the port site before inserting the fill needle, then i try not to look
Twinmom1311 15 Posted February 26, 2015 It's a huber needle. Look it up and you will get a since of what they use. At least that's what my doctor uses. But my port is in my chest not my abdomen.
Lolo~t 4 Posted February 26, 2015 I barely felt it, the nurse didn't even numb me!
ParaGirl 71 Posted February 26, 2015 My port is also in my chest, I have the same doc as Twinmom. I just got a fill today. They numb me first, then do the fill. I never look while they do it, and the numbing med is a little stingy - that's about it. Don't be scared of the fills!
Twinmom1311 15 Posted February 26, 2015 Hey Para how long have you been banded? Are you going to the monthly meetings?
Angelant76 8 Posted February 26, 2015 I barely felt it, the nurse didn't even numb me! So you got your first fill? How do You feel?
CherieRyde 227 Posted February 26, 2015 My Doc feels for the port, marks the spot with a pen, then numbs the spot before using the fill needle. If you don't look, it won't phase you.
Pinkygirl 34 Posted February 26, 2015 My port is in my belly button but I don't get numbed... Doc puts pressure on the area and then pokes it through! Just feel a lil sting!
ParaGirl 71 Posted February 26, 2015 Hey Para how long have you been banded? Are you going to the monthly meetings? I was banded back in 2007. I live in Albany, so I don't attend the meetings. I did attend some when they were here. How are you doing with your band?

I live in Warner Robins so Macon isn't but 20 mins for me so I do go to the meetings. I was banded last year in October. I am still struggling with not focusing on the numbers but how my clothes fit. madsville 4 Posted February 28, 2015 I know with my Dr.... he made it very easy for me to deal with the needle. But my port is close to the surface.... and he would get me laughing and then get me in the port. This is what he did... lay on the table... put hands behind neck and lift your head slightly. briefs199 337 Posted March 5, 2015 I don't look!! Lol. But for me it was not a large needle. My port is near my belly button so I don't get any anesthetic either.
