Any April Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I'm scheduled for April 1! April fools Day? Yikes. Here's hoping my surgeon isn't a prankster and rearranges things so that my arm flies up every time I burp or something.

Hi everyone!! My insurance changed their requirements so I am now only required to do 3 months rather than 6 so I am rushing to complete everything by 3/17. That's the last time I see my surgeon and he will submit to insurance on that day. I've been told, based on that, I will have surgery in April. I REALLY want/need people to go through this with so would love to be part of your little group here.

Hey there ... Let's go through it together!!! I'm currently on a liquid diet and I'm just beside myself, I'm constantly hungry... I don't understand the two week liquid thing, I'm obese but not seriously obese.. 222 as of this morning and I'm 5'6. The nurse doing my endoscopy last week said I don't look big enough to be having this surgery... ???? I'm just agrevated and in a bad mood.... Hungry.. ????????

Some of that response could also be they think or associate this proceedure with extremely large people, 600lbs from many of the shows on TV. For my self I have always felt like the"lost zone"to big for "normal" not big enough for "super size". Not understanding that I would like to live a life food free. …….Eating to live not living to eat……if this was easy every one would be doing it. So cheers to you, we are almost there!

Just finished my pre-surgical testing. It was not my favorite experience. The barium solution for the Upper GI x-Ray was major yuck.

Getting very close to my April 7th date! Just pre-surgery appointments with my primary and my surgeon.

I start liquid a week from tomorrow.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
