1/23 sleeve warriors!

Recommended Posts

I'm on day two since the surgery. The first day was brutal. I was in a Massive amount of pain and discomfort. My chest hurt the most so I ended up needing a X-ray. All came back normal. Evidently the gas and the tube they put in you to help drain the stomach was hurting my chest . Now I am feeling better just super tired and out of it. How are any of my 2-23 warriors doings?

Hi!

I had my surgery on 1/20, so a little over 5 weeks now. At 4 weeks I had lost 23 lbs, how about you?

No pain now except for when introducing whole wheat products. I can sleep on my stomach now which is a huge relief.

No vomiting or hair loss yet, which is nice! Are there any foods you haven't been able to tolerate?

Nuts are the only thing that have given me diarrhea ????

I also had my surgery 1/20, I've just started to eat soft food. Today I tolerated the most food. I've had egg salad get stuck one day and tolerate it another day. Sleeve's are weird lol my sleeve liked scrambled eggs with cheese though. Today I had a grilled chicken tender and a few pieces of very steamed broccoli. So far so good. Also ate a whole Premier Protein bar which was awesome. I've been drinking 3_4 shakes a day to get my Protein. Also, I rarely get my 64 oz of Water. I get about 40 oz ish. I'll keep trying. Oh and since surgery I've lost 21lbs but 50lbs since pre opt and hw and I'm 8.9 away from onederland... Anyway, just wanted to let y'all know what I'm doing. Oh have you tried Jerky? I'd love too but am concerned my sleeve may need another month or so ....please let me know if you can tolerate it. ????????

hello... i was sleeved on monday 2/23. i have pain with every sip.... i am either drinking too fast... too much... temp not right... or stomach spasms.... idk...I got 35 ounces of Fluid in yest. that was better. i have a huge hematoma on my abdomen that happened when i was in the recovery room. It started to grow yesterday so my surgeon had to stop the lovenox injections. usually take them for seven days.. walking around in the house quite a bit. still have lot of gas... i dream of the day when i can drink more than a sip without pain in my gut! it will get better every day.. right? on full liquids.

I couldn't even imagine trying Jerky yet, it seems to rough to swallow since grilled chicken can be hard to swallow...

Yes, it gets better on liquids and foods every week. Day by day is harder to judge by but if I focus on weekly then I really notice the changes.

I'll be 6 weeks out tomorrow and I'll I'm craving is a salad and sushi!!! Have you guys tried raw veggies yet? I've been eating while grain items with no problems so far...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
