kholliday2010 7 Posted February 24, 2015 I'm 1 week post op today. When eating dinner I think I ate too fast or maybe even didn't chew enough. I think a bite got stuck a little... I could feel it and it hurt really bad. I've never felt such pain... I tried to throw up and couldn't but need to do something so I stretched and wiggled a bit and the pain went away. Anyone experience this?
Angied730 0 Posted February 24, 2015 Yes, I have been there. That is usually what I had to do. Was to stretch out and the food would go down. Not a good experience. I find that counting my chews helps me eat slow. I am 7 years out with my band and I still have to count every time I chew. Especially if I am eating with friends. Keeper 218 Posted February 24, 2015 I have only had one small stuck episode and it was quite unpleasant. But from what I have read on here, this is quite common if food is eaten too fast or not chewed well enough. Esp so soon post-op when your band is probably creating a little swelling from surgery. Just hang in there, take things slow, and use this time to learn the process! Good luck :-)
blbaltazar 6 Posted March 9, 2015 This happened to me on Friday and I freaked out! I thought I was having a heart attack! I'm just taking it slow stretching and trying to eat only liquids. This feeling made me want to take it out!
briefs199 337 Posted March 23, 2015 Aren't you supposed to still be on liquids 7 days post op?
kholliday2010 7 Posted March 23, 2015 I was on liquids for a week this particular moment I was adding foods with more consistency. Still to this day I can't eat oatmeal bc it gives me this feeling
punkinvine 227 Posted March 23, 2015 I had a few times of that over the last years. Bending over in the garden seemed to put pressure where it needed to be and the feeling clears. It is not pleasant and I find there are just a few items that are not on my list to eat. One is almonds. They sort of remain in particles when chewed unlike cashews or peanuts that turn into butter apparently. Keep your menu where the dr. has it and when you are allowed to add more texture chew well and try one new item at a time. You can do this! Success is around the corner and it comes in small packages! God is Good!
