2 months after surgery problems

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery Dec 15th and everything went as expected. But 2 1/2 weeks later I begin to not tolerate drinking or eating anything. It hurts my stomach so much. I've tried everything, even the medications the doctor prescribed. ( a numbing cocktail, Carafate, etcl ) The doctor first said it could be gastritis, then he said lets numb it, the medicine was very expensive. It didn't work. Then I tried the carafate. I've had an ultrasound and this week I'm scheduled for an Endoscopy. Weeks have gone by and nothing is improving. Please give me some suggestions. I'm so afraid that this is just the way my life will be from now on.

Glad you're getting an endoscopy. Once the doctor has a look it may shed some light on this. Hope you have a quick resolution and feel better soon!

Thank you for your responses. It really helps knowing that I'm not alone. I've just been so frustrated and slowly feeling regret. Mentally I'm ready to begin my new life, but physically it's been a show stopper. Thanks again. Izzy

I feel your pain, Izzy. It's been this way for me since about two weeks after my surgery on 11/4. By New Year's Even I was deathly ill. Literally deathly ill. Was put in ICU and spent most of January and the first week of February in the hospital. I had every test imaginable run including endoscopy and colonoscopy at the same time. I ended up with multiple diagnosis. Diverticulitis, sepsis gastritis, esophagitis, dehydration, ketonuria, lazy colon, severe reflux, etc... I have been on a load of medications. Lost an incredible amount of weight in rapid fashion, all of my muscle from not being able to keep anything down at all. It has only been in the last three weeks that there has been a turn around with my health. I'm still taking Carafate twice a day and protonix. It is still very uncomfortable to eat any foods that we are supposed to eat after WLS. Seems simple carbs are all I can tolerate. But things are starting to get better. All of my doctors have agreed that I am one of the unfortunate few that just did not have a favorable outcome from vsg surgery. There is no rhyme or reason for why and it could not have been predicted. I was seemingly a perfect candidate for surgery. Sometimes even when it all looks good on paper, the end result isn't optimal. My doctors think that I need more time for healing and that hopefully my body will eventually adjust. I hope yours does too. It truly is awful dealing with feeling so terrible. You have my deepest sympathies.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
