isabelle290 0 Posted June 3, 2007 My doctor doesn't recommend drinking alcoholic beverages at all with the band. I have read that some people can if they take antacids. I'm not a huge drinker, but sometimes go out with co-workers and was wondering if it will destroy my band if I were to have a drink once in awhile. (I am set for the band in early July). Anyone know? Jachut 487 Posted June 3, 2007 I drink a glass or two of wine on a regular basis, probably 3 nights out of 7. It doesnt give me heartburn or anything, but I've never remotely suffered from reflux or heartburn issues unless I was pregnant, and then I had to virtually sleep standing up, lol. Jachut 487 Posted June 3, 2007 Oh - drinking is probably not recommended becuase its empty calories. And I am careful when I drink not to forget to eat VERY carefully. Easily done after a couple.
ljuht115 0 Posted June 3, 2007 question.. I was told that drinking is empty calories, but also have read on some of these posts that wine does help with digetion. I do plan on re-introducing wine and the occasional social drink back into my circle of life just as i would with all the other changes I am making in my life. Right now i am only 10 days post op so it is not even an option for me (nor do I miss it like I thought I would). MY MOTTO is moderation and smart choices for my life. Just be smart about those choices. Good luck!!!!! This is just my 2 cents worth..

Stacy I was told the same thing as Stacy but he told me 6 weeks. I said "how can I have 4th of July without a Margarita?" He said buy the low carb mix (I've had it from when I was doing Atkins, it's really good) and only have one. I can so live with that. He said it doesn't hurt the band it's just empty calories. Terranne 0 Posted June 3, 2007 I've read about the empty calories but never the alcohol part of it. Maybe it's also to make sure you don't have anything carbonated...like a cooler or something mixed with it. Not sure, I rarely drink but I would still like to know that I could have one if I felt like it.
