Pain from drinking

Recommended Posts

I had gastric sleeve surgery on Feb 18. I am having extreme difficulty drinking. The Protein Water makes me sick. My Dr said its a spasm and it will go away soon. When does this awful feeling go away?

It does go away some. Had my sleeve done Feb 5 of this year. Found Water that is room temp is better. And drinking slow help and using a straw.

I am 9 weeks post op and I still have major stomach spasms. I even take a prescription medicine to try and calm the spasms down, but it never fails whenever I eat anything, I get the spams. I'm definitely going to be talking to my surgeon about this on my next visit. This feeling cannot last forever.

2 1/2 months out, and Water still makes me nauseous, almost daily. A couple of things that have helped; putting lemon (fresh or out of the bottle) in room temp Water, and plain room temp water :) I can't drink water first thing in the morning, either, so I start with either Protein or iced (enough to cool down, not enough to make it cold) Decaf tea. Frankensleeve is so temperamental over the weirdest things some days!

Thank you for all these suggestions. I hope all of you start to feel better quickly!

It makes it less frustrating and less emotional knowing people are going through the same thing.

I had my surgery last March and still struggle with getting all my Water in. I found H9 water about a month ago and 1 bottle gives you the hydration of 64 oz in a day. And this might be too much information but after my surgery I had trouble with Constipation and this water has relieved that as well. Check it out. Www.h9water.com/1bottle

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
