I had surgery on the 18th and I'm having the same trouble. Every sip hurts. It takes me about 30 minutes to get down 1 oz. I sure hope this gets easier.

It gets better. Drinking was hard for me the first 3 days, especially Protein shakes. Try different fluids as well as different temperatures. For me, cold apple juice went down way better than Water. And room temp Water went down better than cold water. 3 weeks post op I can drink a 20 oz Powerade Zero in about 10 minutes. Water and Protein Shakes are much easier to drink as well.

Good Morning.

You are still new. Give your body some time to adjust. The first two weeks after my surgery I was miserable. I had thrush that went from my mouth down to my new tummy. Every time I drank, felt like glass going down my throat. The gas from the surgery was in my shoulder and was the most horrible pain I could ever imagine, and I had two children.

I was so tired and had no energy. I cried alot because I am a person who loves to wake up and start my day. That was not happening and making me depressed.

The third week, I was getting my energy back by walking alot during those two weeks. The pain was disappearing and I was able to get at least 2 oz of food into my new tummy.

I had my surgery back on 11/21/14 and have lost over 60 pounds. I am in no rush, I have the rest of my life to get to the 150 pounds I want. Right now I loose anywhere from 2-4 pounds per week. I have not started exercising yet because I am not motivated yet. I will be there once we are above -12 degrees. Yes, I am from Connecticut.....

I am depressed a little now, but it is not because of my surgery. It is because of this horrible weather we have been having.

I promise you will feel better soon and will enjoy this new journey you are setting out on.

This is normal. You just had surgery and it takes time to get semi normal. Reset your expectations that you will be feeling awesome in days.... it's more like weeks with baby steps. You will recover and adjust.

I had my surgery on the 17th of February and compared to two days ago I feel a lot better. The gas is gone and I had my first BM today. I was all over the place for the first few days where I felt like the pain and discomfort would never end! I was anxious and scared and worried about each and every twinge.

I have been able to sleep through the night, and I make sure I get up each morning and walk about and keep doing it for small parts through out the day. You will feel better every day.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
