Was there ever a time after surgery when you felt like this is enough, I don't have any more energy for this struggle

Recommended Posts

I am 3 1/2 months out, and suddenly I feel like giving up this struggle. I don't feel like walking, I keep losing the same 3 pounds for the last two weeks, and I just don't want to figure out what to eat anymore. Any inspiration out there? Did this happen to you too, how far out were you and how did you get your groove back?

I think everyone gets frustrated when you have one of those crappy stalls where u go back and forth. The important thing is to keep on fighting. Look how far you have come and how close to goal you are! You have done a fantastic job in such a short amount of time. Think back to before surgery how hard it was to drop the weight and how long it took. You just had surgery in November and you only have 41lbs to go.

Don't give up now, it might be best to ignore the scale for a couple of weeks and stick to the food plan. Your stall will break and pounds will start to drop off again.

I wish you the best, I know you can do this!

Its rough after surgery. It is a complicated regiment of food volume, food types, complications, liquid volumes, Vitamin spacing, exercise, etc. It took me 6 months to reach my happy state.

I agree with the above statements you are to hard on yourself, you should focus on one day at a time and making good choices, you already know what overweight feels like it sounds to me that you are afraid of success. You are almost at your goal weight and have proven to yourself and everyone that being healthy is obtainable. Stalls are going to happen its normal I just turned 9 months post opt and I am down 100 pounds and I have had many stalls. I still have about 65 pounds I want to loose and I know that I will get there. You say that you are tired of making new meals why dont you prepare your shopping list for food as you like to eat, if you do not like cooking find alternative healthy food such as tuna its cheap and good for you, you can also buy precut chicken breast al you would have to do is put it in the microwave. This is a lifestyle change. I hope this helps you. Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
