We are all on this journey and its new. We need to share recipes that work! Also please tell which stage you are in so the rest of the community will know when it is appropriate to try.

I am still stuck with ice, ice pops and iced Water. The broth and anything hot hasnt worked for me yet so I have been experimenting with what I can get down.

So for those of you coming home from your procedure and are on a liquid diet, this is something to try. (Hey we have to get up and walk and be active, give this a try)

Melon pops

Watermelon about 2 cups

Half cup water

3 Long ice cube trays

Popsicle sticks

Simply squeeze all the melon juice into a bowl it should give about a cup of juice and add about a half cup of water. Pour it into the ice cube trays and lay the popsicle sticks in each one. Into the freezer and a couple hours later enjoy. It is a small volume popsicle and you do not have to feel rushed eating it. It has a mild flavor.

Apple cinnamon pops

Cup of apple juice

Half cup water

shaker of cinnamon

3 long ice cube trays

Popsicle sticks

In a bowl add the apple juice and water. Just need a single sprinkle of cinnamon and stir. Then add the mix to the ice trays. Add the popsicle sticks. Into the freezer for a couple hours until frozen.

If you want a bit more cinnamon flavor sprinkle some on the exposed side of the pops as they just begin to freeze over so it embeds in the ice surface. About 30 minutes after putting them in the freezer, depending on how cold your freezer is.

Currently these 2 are my favorites. I did hear about a shepards pie and a chicken pot pie Soup that I want to try when I am able. I will search for the recipes and post them.

Here's a yummy Soup you can try when you get to full liquids.. It's really easy to make, you can freeze portions for later, and my hubby (non-surgery folks) love it too :)

Sweet Potato and Red Pepper soup

3 C Water

3 yams cubed

1 red bell pepper

3t ginger

4 ½ t olive oil

4 C vegetable broth

Braggs liquid aminos or soy sauce to taste

Boil yams for 5-7 min and drain. Roast bell pepper under broiler until evenly charred, turning frequently. Remove skin from pepper under running Water and then chop into ½ inch cubes. Place all ingredients except Braggs into blender and blend until smooth. Transfer to sauce pan and heat. Add Braggs or soy to taste.

These sound pretty good. I am pretty much on a maintenance but these would still be good for a change.

I forgot to tell where I had my surgery so I'll do that now.

I had mine at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas on 3/15/13. (I think) I had to send a text to my daughter to find out. As you will notice, I am not good with time and dates.

I had the gastric sleeve and have been REALLY happy with this choice. The day I came home from the hospital, I didn't even need not one pain pill. I wish the "not being hungry" that lasts for about three months, would last all the time. But I mostly stick with it really well. I do have something I'm not supposed to have that I really love and miss from time to time.

I just ride the bike longer. lol

I look forward to more recipes!

Thanks for sharing!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
