Did anyone have to switch their beta blocker from xl extended time release to regular metoprolo due to it not absorbing in the body ?

Interesting, I take a beta blocker for the prevention of Migraines. It is a low dose but I have noticed that it does not seem to be working as well as it once did. Also I excercise regularly and in the last few weeks I noticed that it is pretty easy to reach my target heart rate, as you know that is usually much harder to do on beta blockers. I have been wondering if my beta blocker is simply not as effective. I am getting migraines every other day but thought my cervical spine was actually making them worse.

Now I wonder if my preventative is working. I will have to ask my doctor about that.

I have been told by my drs. office staff that anything that is extended release needs to be rewritten after surgery. They just don't do well w/ the RNY patients. So, you may want to look into it.

Rebecca I absolutely agree with you ! I have been having issues with rapid heart beat for the last several days. (I'm 11 days post op) My husband swore the nurse at hospital said that I can't take the extended release anymore. But my hospital discard instruct said to continue the xl release. I asked the surgeon about it he told me it's debatable and he has patients still on it after RNY, but told me to switch since I have been having issues. My PCP wrote me a new script and I feel so much better today. I'm just so tired because I haven't been able to sleep for days . I hope I can eventually get off them the more weight I lose. Thank you !

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
