How much loss 5 weeks out?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I know everyone is completely different ... But I've just found out that 5 weeks after surgery I am likely to bump in an ex at an event ... And I've avoided doing that for so long! My CW is 225 and I'm 5'3 .. Is anyone similar stats, and how much did you lose?

I also have a family holiday booked in July, 4 months out... What did you lose by that point?

Thanks everyone! I get sleeved one week today - the 7 day countdown begins! :-)

I haven't had surgery yet. but I'm curious myself to see people responses to your post.

I thought I'd have surgery in early March giving me more time to adjust and heal for a concert I'm going to at the end of may.

So, I will be 5 weeks out and kind of in the same place as you. my CW 224 and 5'1. I keep looking at 5 week out post to get an idea. But I still hope ppl reply to your post, instead of tell you to search it... which is annoying sometimes.

Heads up! Since this 5-week event seems to be a big deal for you, you need to be warned that at week 3 you are likely to stall and not lose any more weight before week 5. Just wanted you to know this so you don't freak out when it happens. Below is my standard post on the subject. Read the link to get a better understanding about what's going on. The good news is that inches will still come off even while the pounds take a siesta. Good luck!

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the weight will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

Oh crikey! I had heard of the three week stall but didn't realise it was the norm. Not looking forward to that :-)

Thanks for the warning :-)

My stats are pretty similar to yours. I'm 5'1" and my HW was 228 when I started working toward surgery. I lost 11 pounds between July and January. On my preop diet I went from 217 to 207 on day of surgery. My surgery was 1/20/14. I'm officially one month out today. At my first postop visit I weighed in at 201.5 and at my 1 month visit today I weighed in at 191.5!!! I went back to work this week and everyone noticed my weight loss. I think because we are so short, it shows quickly! I hope this helps!!! I wish you luck!!!

Sleeved 12/31, at 5 weeks i had lost 25 pounds. I'm 7 1/2 weeks now and down 36 pounds. I never hit any stalls but my intake is very very low cuz I have a lot of restriction. Its hard for me to eat more than a few ounces of food at any given time. Good luck

I'm the exact same stats. I was sleeved on 1/20/15 at 225 lbs (pre liquid diet) and I'm 5'3. At the 4 week mark, I was down 23 Lbs. This coming Tuesday will be my 5 week...

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the replies :-) I'm really hoping to see a difference by 5 weeks, just so I can hold my head up high and not be quite so self conscious :-)

Rogofulm, thank u! I'm 3.5 weeks out & haven't lost a thing for last week! Hadn't heard that 3 weeks was stall point! Nice to know! I do know I've lost inches, pants are looser, rings slide off, etc.

I lost maybe 40 pounds before my first fill I believe 3 months late. Depends how much you listen to your dr with what to eat and drink.

But it will hit a point where you loos faster than others. Just remember to keep active and eat healthy along with small portions.

I lost so far 107 but I gained 17 back ????had Fluid removed. But don't worry if it slows down and seems like your eating habits changed to eat more it's time for a fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
