Did anyone develop low blood sugar? I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.

Recommended Posts

So last night when I got up to go to the bathroom. I fainted. Flat out fainted no warning no dizziness no memory of it. I went to the doctor today she took my blood sugar and its low. She also thinks my BP is dropping when I stand up. So I have to get a BP monitor. I was just wondering if anyone else developed low blood sugar? I am six months post and at goal for a couple weeks now.

I am having similar problems as well. It's such an odd thing because I'm use to having high blood pressure problems. As of today, I am completely off my blood pressure med (Atenolol) because my blood pressure is consistently low. The doctor was concerned today because my heart rate was 43 and has been low the past two months. My EKG was otherwise normal.

I don't know why my heart rate is so low, maybe it has to do with the surgery and weight loss. I've lost 90 pounds since my surgery 4 1/2 months ago. I do feel light headed when I stand up quickly sometimes. I'm curious if that is related to heart rate, blood pressure, or blood sugar. Otherwise, I've been feeling fine.

I saw a post somewhere - the person said they keep Apple juice handy for when their blood sugar goes down and it brings it up immediately

I almost didn't get released from the hospital when I had my surgery on 12/12 because my sugars were low (41). I go in for my 6 week post op next Wednesday and get my labs drawn. I've never had any issues with my sugar levels before surgery but I have a feeling they are still continually low. Hopefully I get an answer to this....it's hard and I'm light headed and dizzy most of the time.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
