cnjashton 17 Posted February 19, 2015 I have a husband that can't cook and two kiddos 13 and 8 and I wanted to see what other moms (or dads who do the cooking) did for after their surgery? I know I won't feel like (or should) stand and cook right after my surgery. I was thinking about making some freezer meals ahead for them so my husband would just have to pop them in the oven or crockpot. Do I just get Cereal and sandwich stuff the kids can make themselves? Also while my family does eat healthy I know it will be weird cooking for them yet drinking my Protein Shake during my liver shrink diet....should be interesting! Any tips for cooking basically "two meals" right before/after the surgery?
grlfrny 5 Posted February 19, 2015 I have started freezing meals, so I can either throw them in the crockpot or in the oven and not have to worry. I have found some great freezer to crockpot recipes on Pinterest. I have also pre cooked bulk ground beef and put in freezer bags and froze them so if I need food in a pinch, it's ready quick. jems 36 Posted February 19, 2015 Cooking while on the pre op diet will be hard. That was the toughest part, even being around food when on liquids. After surgery I was fine. I could cook and it didn't bother me at all. I had no interest in food for 2 weeks. My husband and 2 year old didn't mind frozen pizza and Soup and grilled cheese if I had a sleepy day though.
