About to enter the puree stage and need help.

Recommended Posts

Hello all!!!

I'm about to enter the puree stage of my post op diet on Friday and was looking for some help/advice.

In the liquid stage, I'm able to get down about 8-11 oz of liquid for my "meals" no problem. I have a feeling that will change when I switch to purées. Any suggestions how much food I should be eating per meal?

Also, any suggestions for recipes and or shopping staples? I already stocked up on Greek yogurt but would love some suggestions on other staples. Plus I have only been able to find a handful of recipes online.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

I could do about 2 oz. in my pureed stage. I bought some little 2 oz. plastic baby food containers and used those to measure and store my food in. Here is a site that has some good recipes/suggestions for the pureed stage.... I mostly lived on cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, and the baked ricotta recipe from this site:

Edit: Here's a link to the containers I bought. I found them at my grocery store:

i think I could eat about a ¼ cup of food . I ate a lot of eggs, occasionally grits, hummus, cottage cheese and whatever I thought to put in the nutrabullet. I also did the baked ricotta, but I just made it like the filling for stuffed shells, topped with Tomato sauce and cheese and baked. I sometimes added a bit a pureed spinach.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
