LBS15 18 Posted February 18, 2015 I'm waiting to hear from my surgeon for a surgery date. I have done all the preop testing. I even have done the scope. Today I got a letter from my insurance company that I am approved for surgery stay starting 3/9. So I guess I'm having surgery 3/9 even though I have not heard back from doctor on my scope, EKG and chest X-ray results?
mae7365 372 Posted February 18, 2015 Aetna called me about my surgery and had the date of my EGD listed as my date of surgery. So I'd wait until your office gives you a date. But getting a letter from your insurance definitely indicates approval so that's exciting!
Ann Fielder 19 Posted February 18, 2015 Congrats......you made it over the hurdle of the insurance maze.....glad you have your date. I am hoping to get mine soon, just finished my 6 months diet, I think all my pre reqs are done...now it's hurry up and wait time
Elode 8,093 Posted February 18, 2015 Not necessarily. The surgeons office always puts a expected date on the insurance forms. That probably won't be your date. Mine did it too. When I spoke with the insurance co they gave me the date which through me off because I had not discussed any date with my surgeon at that time. It's just a projected date to move the insurance approval along. Call your surgeons office. @@LBS15 Sorry forgot to tag you in that
Pac-woman 325 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) The hardest part is getting the approval from the insurance company. You have an approval letter with a "date". However, if there are some testing to be done or finish , the date can always be pushed back. (Very important that the doctor's office keeps the insurance company updated of any surgery date changes, just to make sure the authorization in their system is updated as well, so there are no claims nightmare afterwards. But to be honest, usually the staff at the doctors office knows this since they do it so often. They know the protocol. ) Just be excited, but don't set your heart on that date until you get the "ok" from your surgeon, because it may move. LBS15 18 Posted February 19, 2015 I've done all the pre op stuff. They do surgery 10 days out from meeting surgeon so if do that 2/26 could have surgery then. I'm hoping!
