What irritates your sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I'm 3 months out and haven't had any problems with any particular food.....yet.....although I have not tried Pasta yet, and actually, we eat soba noodles instead of regular Pasta. Since I've not been craving carbs like I used to before using powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shakes, I'm doing my best to stay away from things like bread, rice, etc. Something I do have a problem with is eating or drinking too fast which causes some discomfort. I just stop what I'm doing and wait until the discomfort passes. I was a slow eater before surgery, and now it's like I can't eat slow enough, probably because I don't want my food to get cold before I get it eaten.

I am one month out and still on the puree diet. So far nothing has made me sick, but I have noticed that certain foods like eggs, tuna, and oatmeal sometimes will make my stomach feel full and heavy only half way through. I am not sure if that is my stomach's way of saying that it is full or not. I am still working on knowing when I am full and have had enough.

It is on eggfaces blog on the internet. She had gastric bypass and she loves to cook. She has lots of recipes on her blog. I liked ricotta bake myself. Its like lasagna without the Pasta. It tasted good, didn't bother my sleeve and was a good source of Protein.< /p>

Right after the sleeve its difficult to stay hydrated. Caffeine dehydrates by making you lose Fluid. My team is ok with caffeine like 1 cup of coffee a day once you have no problem staying hydrated. The only thing my team bans forever is carbonated beverages.< /p>

8 months out and sugar and simple carbs so none of that for me. Which is all good.

I'm over 3 months and most days I can eat an entire banana but not that same amount of Protein. That's why it's so important to eat protein first. I can fit carbs very easily. Not a good thing!

I thought the no coffee thing was from the acidity. I'm 3 weeks out and I'm going slow. I feel good with Soups. Maybe at 4 weeks I'll try different textures. Clam chowder went down fine but I took out the clams :( it was still awesome though.

I am going on 8 mos and just about everything still irritates my sleeve but I never had a strong tummy.

Even Water does it. It takes a while for that sleeve to heal...remember it is a partial amputation.

I have a half a cup of coffee a day, doesn't bother me and my NUT is fine with it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
