What irritates your sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 5 months out and I have issues with spicy food, salmon or anything fried. Really shouldn't be eating fried food anyway so that's good.

I love this Protein chocolate milk they sell in the store here. Drank 8 ounces of it, and totally paid with nausea and diarrhea...didn't actually throw up though. so now I just put a 1/4cup in my Decaf chai or cinnamon tea. Tastes like a Mexican hot chocolate! And no nasty side effects ;)

I'm over 3 months out and I cannot handle milk but I can handle cheeses. I cannot tolerate lunch meat, it gives me terrible reflux. Regular caffeine causes heart burn. I can tolerate pretty much anything else.

my sleeve isn't picky about anything either. just over 2 months out and can tolerate pretty much everything I've tried. but I don't do bread, rice, Pasta, pretty much any carbs. the worst I've done was a bite of red velvet cake on vday... I also have 4 oz of solid Protein for meals.

I'm curious- did you try the bread, rice & Pasta and if so, were you fine with that also?

In the first few weeks, I couldn't tolerate eggs (of any variety), cottage cheese, or my favorite pre-op Protein shake.

Now, at about 4.5 months out... I have't really found anything I can't handle. I have tried to make sure I chew things up very well.

Perhaps the only real discomfort I get is when I catch myself eating too fast. The pain quickly reminds me to slow down, though, and I do. :)

yes!! I have actually tried those things...just to see if I was able to eat them.

rice is fine but honestly I only had about a teaspoon of brown rice

the Pasta I had was pasta zero (please look this up!!!! it's amazing!)

and I had bread once and it was at longhorn steakhouse. I was able to take about 3-4 bites of a slice of bread and while it was fine it did feel a little heavy.

I'm choosing not to eat those things because it's part of the reason I got here in the first place (: lol

So far, hard boiled eggs and ground chicken (but only when packed into a patty shape).

Sometimes she gets bitchy and refuses to tolerate something I just ate the day before with no issues. I guess that's her way of saying, "You've had quite enough of this, thankyouverymuch."

I'm assuming it's my peasant ancestors fault, but I can eat ANYTHING without a problem. I am 3 months out today. As you may imagine, this is a blessing and a curse :)

I've only been on purees since Tuesday. So far I have tried ground beef with a little gravy, tuna with mayo and tolerated fine. Last night I made Eggface's ricotta bake and had issues. I took small bites, waited 2 min. between bites and decided even before i had finished 1/4 cup that I'd better stop eating. I am not sure what happened, but 1/2 hour later I became uncomfortable had to burp and started "foaming." It lasted about an hour. Sometimes this new stomach scares me.

I counted down the days until I could try the ricotta bake, but it's the first thing that made me sick. Too much cheese, I think - melted cheese is hard to chew enough.

In theory the ricotta bake sounded great, but it grossed me out in reality. Probably the only thing that ever made me feel a little sick.

I am seven months out and I have a sleeve of steel and can tolerate anything I have tried. I do avoid rice, Pasta, and breads just because those were my favorite foods pre op and I don't crave them now and I try to avoid refined sugars. I don't like beef or white chicken meat- they seem to dry for me now.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
