What irritates your sleeve?

Recommended Posts

I'm on soft solids now. I've noticed dairy is just not digesting well. Anyone else? What irritates your sleeve.... I can't digest yogurt or cheese. I found a small slice of turkey goes down ok. I'm trying egg salad today. Just boiled egg with light mayo.. Hoping that goes down ok. Trying a small teaspoon at a time ... One step forward and one step back seems like..

Still haven't tried "food" yet but I'm having different Soups. Have you tried them? Try a vegetable or Lentl Soup. Maybe those will do better with your sleeve

I have noticed that whenever I try something new- I can only take a couple of spoonfuls the first time and the next time I eat it I'm able to digest a lot more

I can eat about a 1/2 can. I've had New England Clam Chowder and Vegetable Soup. I bought a Seafood Bisque but haven't tried it yet. I thought the clam chowder went down better than the vegetable. I'll try to buy Progresso Light Soups . I also bought Lentl but haven't tried it yet

Hi i also couldnt tolerate dairy in the beginning, however a few months out and i can have it in very very small doses. I think with time it will get better, Try scrambled eggs, at this stage you are at they should go down quite well. Someone posted in the food forums about Heston Blumenthal's scrambled eggs, check you tube for the video.

I'm over 3 months post op and my sleeve still doesn't like salads, untoasted bread, eggs, tuna. I'm terrified to even try Pasta or rice since I hear those are the hardest to handle. I made tuna salad last night and had to stop eating after 3 spoonfuls. Made scrambled eggs for Breakfast and could only eat a few bites before my stomach said "no more". So I'm hooked on Pure Protein Meal Replacement bars (20 grams Protein in 200 calories). My sleeve never gives me grief about Protein Bars.

Oh......and forget fruit - especially if it has any type of skin. Oranges, apples, grapes, strawberries.....my sleeve just doesn't like them.

I was under the impression that re: eggs & tuna, that's the normal amount for how much you can eat the first year

Any meat that's not super soft or moist.

Have you tried cutting up strawberries and making them in Jello? That's what I had to do with my band and dim going to try it with the sleeve. Not for another month or so

My sleeve hates bread and popcorn. I tried a bite of each at different times and they both made my stomach hurt so bad! I haven't tried Pasta or rice yet, and don't plan to for a very long time, if ever. everything else has been fine though.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
