Ok so I got my band in Feb, everything is going ok, but to tell you the truth I was sort of imagining an easier way out..figures!!

Anyways I have trouble when ever I eat Anything. I burp. This may not sound like a big deal to some but the thing is I think its so grossss..its like a pet peeve. And sometimes I'll burp with no problem and other times I get this painful air bubble that I'll have to pound on my chest to unlocate. I was wondering if anyone else has or had the same problem and any advice. I've accepted the fact that I am probally not chewing enough which doesnt help anything.

Has anyone tried something like those thin strips of gas-x for something like this?

:help:

I used the Gas X strips once or twice right after banding, but never since. I have noticed, if I am not careful, and swallow air with my food, I burp more! And I have had the trapped air feeling---I too pound my chest to "burp" myself!!!

Chewing well is a necessity, it is something you have to really concentrate on for about 3 weeks....and then it becomes a natural thing to do. I do slip up.....and then I hurt....so force myself to re-do the forced chewing until it seems normal again.

Are you avoiding drinking with your food? If I drink with my food, I do the air block much worse. At home I just move my glass to the kitchen and it isn't an issue, at a restaurant, it is always right there, and I sometimes grab it out of habit, and drink! About mid swallow, I click on what I just did!!! And I usually end up uncomfy for a few minutes, while everything settles back down.

Have you noticed whether certain foods, or drinks or how you drink them (straw vs. no straw) makes a difference? It may take some detective work on your part to figure it all out. Try one of the gas strips prior to a meal, see if it helps.....

Let us know!!!

I have the same problem you are talking about. It is from eating to fast, not chewing enough, eating too much, and not eating the right foods. I found all 3 out the hard way. After 20 years of shoving food down my throat and eating like a dog, duck, or any other animal that doesent chew, I had to re-teach myself how to eat.

just take your time, chew well, and eat very small portions. It will go away

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
