5 mo post op stall, for past month

Recommended Posts

I've been in a stall for a little over a month and it's driving me bananas. Normally I will lose about 4-5 lbs after an infusion, but this time I GAINED 3 lbs. Since then I havnt lost anything. I had a stomach bug for a few days that had me vomiting alot, and then the gastritis/esophageal spasms I get worsened. This made it so I ate very little. I've heard that sometimes increasing calories can break a stall so I wanted to try that, but with esophageal spasms everytime I take a bite I'm miserable. I'll admit I resorted to slider foods to get the calories in. I never went over 1200 calories tho. Normally I top out at 1000. Ive had no change. What do I do????

I would start back at square one, I.e. Protein Shakes for 2-3 days and Water, water, water. Might be helpful for your spasms too by giving it a rest from solids. Also incorporate Protein Powder in plain Greek yogurt, you can mix in the Protein powder. Stick with it, you've come so far!

@@Wynnie has solid advice. I tried that and it's probably in my head but I really struggled with going to full liquids for a few days. So I went back to my pre-op diet which was 2 shakes and a healthy meal and that got things moving for me. Things are slowing down for me right now and if I don't lose this week, I'll probably go back to that for a week or so.

That's a good idea, I wish I could say I thought liquids would help the spasms, even Water hurts! But it definetly couldn't hurt to give it a break. I'm gonna try that starting tomorrow.

I think this resetting process you guys are referring to seems to work great. The next time I stall for more than a week, I am going to reset back to Liquid Protein for a few days and see what happens.
