Laser Hair Removel

Recommended Posts

Hey Pam, thanks for letting us know you took the plunge!

My first visit was $112.50, and on my next visit, I'm going to buy a 3 visit package which is $270. I think this is a fairly good price. What area(s) are you having done?

I'm doing the area under my chin. Since my weight started climbing a few years ago, my hormonal changes brought on a patch of dark coarse hairs that grow too fast to shave and look like terrible acne when I pluck it. Nothing over the counter has helped. I'm sure hoping this does

Pssst...I am an office manager for a dermatologist. What you gals say is true:

It feels like a rubber band being popped against the skin.

I have had treatments for the past 6 years. Not all in one place. But we are busy and I only get treated about every 6 months to a year, but it is free so what the heck!

I only have about ten dark hairs growing still under my right arm and about five under my left arm. I have had six treatments. My Medical Assistant is good. I have no swelling or red after effects after I have been treated. We also apply a post laser gel after the treatment. Neova makes a good one. We too have the Cool Touch Laser. Rhonda, my MA has only had time to laser the hairs on my left leg once. Not at all on my right leg. Let me tell you, there is about half the amount of hairs growing on my left leg now. We also order a numbing gel from North Hollywood California that is pretty costly but works the best. Works great! I would recommend it to anyone!!

Pam - IT WILL HELP!!! I promise. It will most likely take more then 1 treatment for you to notice a different though.

Thanks Tammy for that info!

For those that are interested, heres my update:

about 3 weeks ago (1 month after 2nd treatment) I noticed that it was time to start shaving/plucking again. Although its just a few hairs here and there... Id say an overall 75% reduction of facial hair. Still no black roots! (thats the main thing)

I am still very pleased with the outcome so far!

You may have resonded to this but what is PCOS? about a year ago I started getting massive amounts of facial hair and I spend tons on waxing and hair remover. I am contemplating laser but here in NY its quite a bit more...the specialist wanted 750 for my chin and 750 fo rmy cheeks. I think this was a doctor of laser though (not sure if that's totally correct). I have yet to find any place that charges 150/pop and most places out here want you to buy a 'package' for wha basically starts at about 1,000 (from what i've seen).

PCOS is polycystic ovarian syndrome and the ovaries are full of cysts adn you have strange periods because of it. This also affects my hormones and I have an excess of testosterone, which is what causes the hair growing on my chin and cheeks... it also causes me to be bulky and have insulin resistance... also my hair has fallen out so much that i have the start of a bald spot in the back.. i just ordered some rogaine for women...

I have a few errant hairs on my chest and even some on the "girls". I can always tell when i have gained weight or my hormones are getting worse because more hairs will grow. as i lose weight though, or have in the past, my facial Hair growth will become less..

Yup, higher testosterone baby! I believe that is why my sex drive is so high, but also why I'm more assertive than most women. And of course, women who stand up for themselves, or who refuse to roll over for men are almost allways described as bitchy.

Cousins on both sides of my family are really into geneology, so not only am I a bitch, but I am a pedagreed bitch!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
