Does anyone else feel like this is going slower than you thought?

Hello, i am a little over 3 months post op and i've lost about 25 lbs. and i guess that's great but when i think of what i used to eat and what i'm eating now, it seems like this should be going faster! I'm barely eating 700-800 a day versus like 3000 a day........anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I haven't had my surgery yet but 2 things:

1) at 240, you weren't nearly as overweight as many people on this board who have 150-200 lbs or more to lose. Naturally, they would lose faster.

2)You may actually need to up your calories a tiny bit. Sometimes going too low pushes your body into survival mode, hanging onto every bit it can.

Also, are your 800 calories coming primarily from Protein and some good fats? Or are you eating carbs, which will tell the body to store fat?

Sometimes we expect way more than what is reality. Take it in stride. You're in this for life.

I would eat a lol more. At least a 1000 calories. Eat plenty of Protein & drink a Protein Shake daily. Exercise. Walking is great. Working out at a gym will increase your metabolism. I'm 4 1/2 months post op lost 100 lbs. Exercise daily & eat around 1200 calories. I need to lose another 100lbs. You're doing good. Stay the course. Good Luck to you

Get back in contact with your NUT. They can give you the best possible diet to move things along.

I had many plateaus. I did notice that during times of slow loss, my skin shrunk up, so that was a plus.

Yes, I think about it alot. It doesn't seem possible to eat so little and lose so little. I lost the same amount as u did at 3months. AND i went through a rough stall at that time. I felt like i would never lose more. Now at 8 months I've lost a total of 70lbs postop and am in another stall and feeling like I won't lose anymore again. Some of us are just slow losers. No matter how hard we work.

I'm 4 1/2 months post op. I've lost 100 lbs. I workout at the gym to increase metabolism. I walk everyday. 2 miles 1 day then 1 mile the next. I take in 1000 calories a day. I still drink a Protein Shake daily & take all my supplements. I'm losing 10 to 12lbs a month. No stall. Don't cheat. Eat sugar free Snacks. Eat lean Protein & exercise. You can do this. Stay motivated. People can't believe how much weight I've lost. I've got another 100lbs to lose over the next year. Good Luck to you I hope you get back on track

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
