Not really sure I'm happy with my gastric sleeve surgery choice

@@pinklady08619 Don't forget that YOU are the customer!! You deserve to have all the information and explanations you need whether the nutritionist is on vacation or not. As suggested above, you call that surgeon's office and do not hang up until you feel you completely understand your plan. If necessary, ask for a consult appointment so you can go in for an explanation. Be your own advocate! They are supposed to be serving you!

Good luck!!

under the impression that the liquid diet was just for the first day with the cup then you can do the Protein shake! Or am I wrong?

@pinkylady08619

sorry your NUT won't be around for a bit

she will be a great help

write down your questions

its easy to forget certain things you want to talk/ask about

read the boards

go to the search button in the top right hand corner

you'll see that many other people have asked similar questions that you might have too

ask your questions here too

we're here to give support

give our experiences too

all comments you have been given are great/helpful :)

but at the end of the day

listen to YOUR doc or nut

its said frequently on the board

that the one thing we all have in common, is that we're all different"

all docs and NUTS (nutritionalist ) have different rules

my doc had me on Clear liquids for 10 days

i "think" its safe to say that most of us are on Clear Liquids for more than a day

having the sleeve or bypass or lapband - i think the early stages are similar

please don't regret having the sleeve because you are on liquids longer than you thought

personally speaking

the sleeve has been my best friend for the past 3 years

as long as i continue to follow all the rules i will do great :)

you work with the sleeve/and it will work with/for you :)

good luck

kathy

By now you should be able to add yogurt & pudding. It will be fine. Even though everyone's plans are different, I say just add those if you're still confused

I had my sleeve yesterday. Aside from gas pain, I am doing pretty good. My diet is like this:

2 days clear liquid-water, diluted apple or cran juice, jell-o, broth. Tomorrow starts 7 days Protein liquids, this includes Protein Drink, milk, cream Soups, yogurt, pudding, nothing can have chunks. Then 7 days puree, then 14 days mushies.

I'm the exception to the rule. Other than the day before surgery I never had a clear liquid phase.

Hopefully you choose your team because you trusted them. Call them and get clarification.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
