I think it's over...

Recommended Posts

I need some Help and advice without getting Judged.... ON January 2kt I tried to kill myself. I overdosed on 120 different anti-depressants, muscle relaxers and sleeping pills.... My oxygen went to 50% by the time the ems got there. I was in a coma for six days. They had to pump my stomach 4 times with Charcoal. since I was released, after having aspiration pneumonia, and respiratory failure, which IM Still in so no exercise for me for 3-6 Months. I cant even shower without having to stop because I cant breathe.... well my question is, I think all those pills and having my Stomach pumped has fucked up my lap band. I was hoping to die but since I lived, I need to get back on track and start losing weight so I'm not so depressed... How do I start over and fix my band?

I don't have any advice about the lap band. I think you should check with your doctor.

But I do want to say how sorry I am that you felt so hopeless that you wanted to end your life. I also want to remind you how our feelings and circumstances change throughout our lives. The bad times are not permanent.

Do you have a therapist or is there anyone in your life that you can talk to? There's an old saying: "Trouble shared is trouble halved." I hope you have someone to help you through this.

Hi Kelly, I'm sorry you felt that way but glad to hear that you're ready to move forward.

I would recommend an appointment with your surgeon and even an exam under fluro so he/she can see if there was any damage done to your band.

You should have a clear answer after that on how to proceed.

Best of luck to you.

Your band's placement should be checked at this time. Please call your band surgeon. It's better for you psychologically to know that 1) the band's integrity is intact or 2) the band has been damaged or slipped due to the intervention, and needs attention at this time. This is one stress you can control, so it makes sense to get your band checked now and you can move forward based on the results.

Kelly I am so sad to hear that you were in so much pain. The one thing I do know first hand is what happens to family members when someone ends their own life.. I know it doesn't seem to be the biggest problem you have right now but trust me after my husband's son took his own life my husband suffered greatly. I want you to know that there is always hope, I have friends who have overcome many things including disability and super morbid obesity. Watch 600 lb life this week and see how some of those people overcame their obesity to become productive , happy people . You have so many great years ahead. I agree with another post that todays sadness can change overnite. Your life has not played out yet. Take care of yourself and do your very best to get healthy, the rest will follow. I will be praying for you.

Kelly sweetie..no one is judging..I promise. I looked at your profile and see that you are just 19 years old. I am so very sorry that you are in so much pain that you thought death was the answer. I am no therapist but I am a mother and I'd hate to think my child was hurting that badly and I couldn't help her. Please take care of your emotional issues along with your band concerns. I agree that you should talk to your bariatric surgeon regarding any damage you may have done to the band and I also think that you should be speaking with a professional regarding your attempt at suicide. I understand how you can be in that much pain. I considered suicide myself at one time but I told my therapist about it and with the help of medication and additional therapy, I got past the crisis and have not felt that way in a very long time. Please keep us posted on how you are doing because we really do care about you.

Kelly, I just wanted to tell you that I love you, even though I dont know you. Your post broke my heart. Definitely check with your surgeon and then find out if you at all were given an Ng tube. If you ever want to talk, I am here!

My husbands step dad killed himself and I just want you to know that the hard times do go away. Sometimes we need help to help them go away, but God has a plan for your life, sweet girl. Just keep going :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
