I hope it never goes away

Recommended Posts

Every time I hop into my bed, or cross my legs, or bend down, curl up, stand up, etc, etc, etc, I am reminded how as we get larger, we compensate in how we move. I know I didn't realize for a very long time, the changes I made as I got heavier and heavier but I am hyper aware how much easier it is now to engage in any type of movement. Everything we do is different because it's easier the smaller one gets. It's so wonderful that I hope the feeling never goes away. Right now I'm constantly reminded of my weight loss because of this and I don't ever want it to become something I take for granted.

I was just thinking about this as I tied my shoes. When I was 300lbs, I couldn't breathe when I bent over to tie my shoes! Now, not only can I breathe, but I can even continue a conversation while doing so! ...it's these (not so) little things that make this journey so worth it!

I think what is crazy is I didn't realize how much my weight was affecting everyday little things! Tying shoes crossing legs, sitting in a booth, airplane, seatbelts...I could go on and on!! Love my band!

It is good to get in a bathtub and not worry if you will fall getting out. I had a fear everytime I took a bath or even in the shower that I might fall . My mobility has increased dramatically since my surgery. I now park my car far out in the lot so I will walk . That is something I would never do pre surgery, tying shoes and getting dressed without huffing and puffing is a real plus. The best part of losing weight for me is being able to keep up with my granddaughters In the mall. I hope I never take any of it for granted and continue to be vigilent about my weight.

Squeezed myself on to the couch the other day between two friends and a doggie -- didn't have to think twice about whether I'd fit.....and didn't feel embarrassed. That's the main thing for me these days -- not feeling shy and humiliated about my body size.

I dropped my book at church the other night and out of habit I started to peck my son on the shoulder to get it for me, then I remembered I can do this. :)

Just reading through these responses reminded me of how I used to waddle when I walked. To be able to walk normally is something to not take for granted as well as the many other things we all share that were once difficult but aren't any more. So proud of all us.

Amen to all of the above !!! Before WLS, everything revolved around my weight problem. Dressing, housework, traveling, clothes shopping , self esteem etc, all were difficult. Now ? Nothing but positives. Not perfect, far from it, but ohhh the joys of just being able to move without worrying about it !!! I am SO grateful !!!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
