mandy7607 3 Posted June 8, 2015 Hello! I am 10 days away from my surgery (June 18th) and having a lot of mixed emotions: excited, anxious, worried, happy... I began the journey in January with a surgeon that my boss used for her lapland after I was diagnosed with diabetes on January 14th. They walked me through the Aetna expectations and were clear about how tough they could be. After psych evals, 4 months of nutritionists, medical clearance, stress tests, I lost 50 lbs, and was approved two weeks ago by my insurance company. It was surreal accomplishing the first part of my goal and now I can't wait for the next part. Best of luck, fellow June sleevers!

DisneyDreaming 42 Posted June 8, 2015 I am 8 days out. I too have made a list of the why I am doing this. I have moments of panic, but I stop and take a deep breath and know this is the right thing for me to do.
remzel 16 Posted June 8, 2015 wooohooo! had my final insurance appt friday and I am scheduled for June 23. I start the 2 week liquid diet tomorrow which I know will be tough but I am just so excited that it is finally here! I had a mini food funeral this weekend, but was really good about portions and didn't binge so it was a nice sign that things are moving in a positive direction. thecamiraye 26 Posted June 8, 2015 @@cmhueto No, you are definitely not the only one!! I am constantly looking at before and after pics as well. i also have started following people on instagram who have been sleeved. I love seeing everyone's progress to keep me motivated during my liquid pre-op diet. That is an amazing idea to write down all of your reasons and post them everywhere. I am going to do that too. I think I might write them on my bathroom mirror with a dry-erase marker.
thecamiraye 26 Posted June 8, 2015 My surgery is still scheduled for June 15. I can't believe it has gone so fast. My consultation with the Dr. was on May 14 and only a month later I am having surgery. That is crazy to me but it must be a sign that I am moving in the right direction. Everything is going so fast and I have become more and more anxious but I recently started meditating which is helping tremendously! What do you do to help ease the anxiety of upcoming surgery. chelleshocked 130 Posted June 8, 2015 I had my final preop appt today. Echo-cardiogram, pulmonary test, ultrasound of the veins in both my legs, cardiac stress test, and my preop class. 3 hours whew! Unless i hear something by Wednesday otherwise (no new is good news) regarding my cardiac stress test, and I don't expect to, I am still on for June 24th! Preop diet starts Wednesday June 10th They also sent me home with a machine to attach to my legs while I am sleeping to prevent blood clots after surgery. It's finally getting real!!
