I'm 11 days post-op. I used to be one of those people who were always too hot. But since surgery, I have been cold. All the time. And no, I don't mean cold from going outside in the winter, I mean cold inside my warm house. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome to the land of the freezing. It is very common after WLS and is something we need to deal with. Fleece leggings under your pants helps a lot too!

Yes, absolutely! I don't remember how long it took me to be cold all the time but it's normal now. keep a lightweight jacket with you. Another weird sensation as you get further out is a runny nose when you're full.

I am four months out & I definately get cold more often. Since I'm in menopause, I welcome the cold, LOL.

Incidentally, I just watched a YouTube video of a guy who is two years out and he says he still gets cold. So it looks like it does not go away.

It is normal. It may take up to 2 years for your body to readjust to having lost such a vast amount of weight. I am always cold. Living in Canada means I often have two layers of pants and between 2-4 layers of tops. I hope you live somewhere warmer than here. Lol

I have noticed the same thing, and I am 28 days since surgery. I used to be someone that was always hot, too. I have a theory on why this happens, but would love to hear from someone if I'm correct. (I will ask my surgoen next week at my one month post op appt.)

I think it may be that digestion takes a lot of energy, and that energy creates heat in the body. In my pro-op days (and years!) I had much larger amounts of food to digest, and was constantly eating.......therefore creating more heat in my body? Now that we're eating less, digesting less, we're noticing that we often feel cold.

Just a theory........but I started noticing that I often felt cold immediately after surgery. I agree with @@Kathy812 , I'm in menopause, so feeling cold is welcome! :)

4 months after surgery and still cold. Had the same problem a few years ago after following the lighter life diet. Sorry to say this didn't improve much even in the summer. Think the answer is lots of layers and warm drinks and when all else fails a long soak in the bath seems to do the trick.

Yep I got that too. So strange lol. It's kinda cool because I was always the sweaty girl and now I'm cold. I went to a wedding yesterday and it was packed. I was dancing with my husband and 15 minutes in I wasn't sweating like a pig and I wasn't even tired! My hair stayed perfect as well as my make up because I wasn't sweating! That's cool!

@Jazmundo... I was always the sweaty girl too, so this is definitely a welcomed change! I kind of hope it lasts. Lol!

But it's also really good to know that I'm not shivering alone. I'm so glad I found this group!

I'm definitely colder than I used to be. While I never felt overly hot, I was one of those guys who was perfectly happy in cooler temps... and now, not so much. I've noticed myself feeling colder quite a bit!

I definitely started feeling the cold after losing about 50lbs. Now I'm cold AND sitting makes my rear sore easier without the extra padding. Huge problems, I know!
