A very personal question

Recommended Posts

I'm getting banded in September, and these questions keep popping in my head.

I totally understand if no one replies to this question:

Is the band or port uncomfortable (or noticable) in any way to either partner during sex?

Don't know who else too ask but you experts (in being banded, I mean!!).

Nope. I have never felt it during sex, and my DH has never complained that he could feel it either. But then, we are pretty occupied at the time, and it's not really something I think about (the port that is, lol)

I know I was conscious of it for the first few months after surgery, but it never got in the way and it never bothered my husband. ;-)

You can easily feel my port but it does not hurt or interfere with sex.

I am so glad you asked this question because I was worried about this very same thing. My surgeon gives the choice of port placement...either between the breasts just above the bra line, or directly over the left rib cage just below the bra line. I don't mean to offer TMI, but my DH is a boob man and because of this I think I am going with the "directly over the left rib cage just below the bra line" area...what do ya'll think?

Wowzers! Even with a low profile port, I cannot imagine having my port placed on my ribs!

Maybe the Aussies place their ports differently to the docs in the US, but my port is between my belly button and ribs.

That where mine is too Chickie.

The only time I have had port trouble was maybe the first week or so after when I tensed up during the big O (yeah I have just been waiting to say that all day lol). That was a bit painful. As for the sex part, nope nothing during sex. And with this weight loss I have been getting a lot of practice lately.

I've never heard of a surgeon placing the port on the rib cage, most put it on the left or right side between the waist and lowest rib or right below the sternum.

The only pain or discomfort was from too many orgasms. I told my doctor about it, yes, it hurt that bad. He said it was from the muscles and that the port should be fine. Relax...have fun!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
