port in the bikini area

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all of you who answered!

I told my Doctor [Yau in Toronto] that my port bothers me [right under my underwire bras] and he suggested relocating it in the bikini area. So, that answers all your doubts whether the tube can even reach that area and whether Doctors will do it. I am having it done June 7, next week. It is a relatively new area and there aren't that many people who have it there. One lady told me the reason for that is not that it is not good for the patient, but it is a bit more difficult for the Doctor/Surgeon. The easiest for them is sternum area-where I have it now.

As soon as I get home I take off my bras because it bothers me, and it is not a pretty sight [with my clothes on, ofcourse].

I just need some reasurrance from someone who has the port there in terms of feeling confortable.

Grateful, Eileen

Mine is somewhere in between! It is about 5 inches above and slightly to the left of my belly button. I have a friend and hers is right at her waistband and way left! Keep in mind we are both quite tall. But it seems like there is a lot of room, and that it should work either way. Will you require more fill, since the tube will hold so much more???

Good Luck in your relocation!

Kat

Yeah.... mine is about the same as Kat's, Eileen. I'm a Dr. Cobourn patient, and he says thats where he puts all of his. I'd ask about getting it there. Bikini area? Uggg... I wouldn't want that. :faint: sorry!

I'm being banded on the 15th and I am having the port put in the bikini area. Well it's not that low, it's just above my hip bone on the left. Dr Yau said there is no problem with it there, the only worry he has it about keeping it clean. I guess he means whilst healing. Why am I having it there? because I'm going to be wearing a bikin this time next summer....... You better belive it!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
