I Have a Date. February 26th (Tentative)

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. My name is Chrissy and I am new to the site.

It is looking like February 26th for me. I see so many staying at the Marriott. I will actually be staying at the Hotel Pueblo Amigo. It looks really nice online. I hope it is the same in person.

Good luck to you! I am sure you will be well taken care of. I've been to Mexico for surgery on two different occasions now and I was treated incredibly well on both trips.

I know laving the country for surgery can be daunting, but there are hundreds of people on these forums who had positive experiences in Mexico. :)

You are so right. I am the queen of research and feel 100% sure that my choice is the best one for me.

Have you adjusted well to your sleeve? Any words of advice?

My advice is to be patient. Immediately after surgery, I was so impatient about the rate of my weight loss and the pace of my recovery. I felt like I would never feel normal again. It was pretty rough and discouraging. On top of that, the pace of my weight loss was "slow" compared to others I was seeing. People losting 40+ pounds in the first month whereas I only lost under 15. In the beginning I had a lot of angst. But I'm over 5 months out now and so much happier. I would say around the 2 month mark I was feeling normal again. Or at least my "new normal". I could go about my day and felt like a human being.

And I've embraced the slow loss as well. The scale IS moving down and in the mean time, I've realized there are a lot of advantages to losing slowly. I don't have to replace my clothes as often. I don't get as many prying questions about my weight loss. And my skin and body have time to adjust to the loss. I realized that this isn't like all the diets I've done over the years. I would always want to get to goal ASAP so I could be "done" with the diet. But, I'm never going to be done with my sleeve.

Thank you so much for this info. I am sure that I will also lose slowly because I have no metabolism due to thyroid issues. I am okay with losing slowly, I just want to lose. :) My weight fluctuates often due to being hypothyroid always going up and never down. LOL

I have to buy a scales....I am reluctant to do so but my surgeon requires weekly updates. I think through all of this journey that will be the thing I am going to hate. scales have been my biggest enemy for years. I expect I'll even have major anxiety while buying it.

Now that I am 11 days before my surgery date, I have to get prepared for my trip. I have never been to Mexico but it can't be too bad. I survived El Salvador 2 times so I am sure going to Mexico will be a easy feat.

Anywho I am just rambling but I do appreciate your response and guidance.

Oh my I got up this morning feeling quite down. My surgery is supposed to happen Thursday, but it looks like I may have to postpone it a couple of days. Being a single mom with 2 older kids involved in things at school is interesting but at times, puts a damper on things I'm doing for myself. I really don't know why I am whining. At least I still get to get it done and worst case scenario the delay would be a week or so at most.

Since I've already started the pre-op diet and that is going well I don't want to change it up. The idea of doing even more days of the diet is saddening. I'm okay but it is hard to do liquid only at this point. I don't want to go back to eating regular food only to have to start the diet again. Any ideas?

Why do you have to delay? You didn't really make that clear in your post.

I really failed on explaining my situation. I was kind of walking myself through it as I typed.

I relocated to California from Tennessee almost 2 years ago. I am a single mom and have a 12 and 16 year old. Both are involved in things at school. These were things that I needed to account for since I would be leaving the country for a few days. Basically my kids extracurricular activities may affect my surgery date.

Ah. And I assume since you moved you don't have any local family/friends that could help take care of those things while you're away?

Yes that is indeed my dilemma. So I made the decision to reschedule until March 11th. I want to have peace of mind when I go to Mexico. For my own sanity, this is the best choice for me. So now I have 16 days to make sure I have everything worked out.

Its going to make for a long pre-op diet though.

Thanks for responding. It means a lot.

I wish you the best of luck. Sounds like things are pretty hectic for you, but I'm glad you figured out a surgery date that will work. The extra-extended pre-op diet can't be fun, but I guess on the bright side you'll drop even more weight this way!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
