Heh. The pre-op diet is tough! It's hard to eat so little when you still have 100% of your stomach!

I'm on day nine hang in there, I'm not going to say the pre op gets better but your body does get used to it. Just keep your mind busy and focus on the big picture.

I still eat using appetizer flatware and use appetizer plates and bowls. It really does make me feel like I'm eating more than I am...that and my itty bitty stomach helps too!

I start Wednesday! I am a little worried! I have written down tons of projects that I need to get done to keep me busy so hopefully I won't think about food as much as usual! Good Luck with it!

Starting mine tomorrow. My PA tells me I can have salad and non starchy vegetables. Guess I'll make a trip to the grocery store. The Protein Shakes don;t fill me up at all

You get to eat that? I thought the preop died was a liquid diet.

Every doctor has their own preference. Mine included 2 Protein Shakes and one "lean & green" meal. I could also include a salad with fat free dressing. Lost 13 lbs in 2 weeks ????

Yeah, every surgeon has their own requirements. Some just require high protein/low carb, some require Protein Shakes only, some allow for some vegetables, some allow sugar-free Jello and popsicles. Some surgeons don't require a pre-op diet at all!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
